"While you were still in prayer"

Image
"While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people…. And making my request to the Lord my God…. While I was still in prayer, Gabriel…said to me, … 'As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.”- Daniel 9:20-23   “While you were still in prayer'" Does that stand out to you too? It should. What does that say to us? What does that tell us? That when we simply begin to share our hearts and pour out our prayer to the Lord…….. Before we have even completed a thought…… God is listening. God is hearing. God is answering.   But yet we too often fail to kneel before the throne. We fail to utter the words. We fail to share our hearts. We walk muted by the world and held captive by our circumstance. “While you were still in prayer” Does that excite you? If it doesn’t you’re not capturing what that truly means. While you were still in prayer…before you...

Still or Stagnant?

Image
We see water referenced a great deal in scripture. Hebrews 10:22   Revelation 22:1 Psalm 63:1 Isaiah 12:3   John 3:5 Jeremiah 17:13 These are only a small taste of what you’ll find. If we’re on a hike and looking for a drink we always want to look for moving water. Moving water is clean. Stagnant water has had time to accumulate bacteria and other microbial things that are not good for our health. It can make u...

Spare Tire or Steering Wheel?

Image
Is God your spare tire or your steering wheel? Might sound like a strange question until we really think about what it’s asking? Is God leading each twist and turn of our lives or do we keep him in the trunk of our life, in case of emergencies? Before you recoil and think “God in the trunk? Of course not!” pause. What do we know about our spare tire?  Well, we don’t think about it often, but we know it’s there. When we need it we go to it.  It gets us to where we need to be, until we replace it with something else. This can be the way we handle our faith too. We sometimes wait until we have spiritual blowouts before we reach out to God, instead of letting him drive our lives to begin with. "But   seek   first   the   kingdom   of   God   and   His   righteousness ,  and   all   these   things   shall   be   added   to   you ." -Matthew 6:33 Are we seeking Him first ...
