"While you were still in prayer"
And making my request
to the Lord my God….
While I was still in prayer,
Gabriel…said to me, …
'As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.”-Daniel 9:20-23
Does that stand out to you too? It should.
What does that say to us?
What does that tell us?
That when we simply begin to share our hearts and
pour out our prayer to the Lord……..
Before we have even completed a thought……
God is listening.
God is hearing.
God is answering.
But yet we too often fail to kneel before the throne.
We fail to utter the words. We fail to share our hearts. We walk muted by the
world and held captive by our circumstance.
“While you were still in prayer”
Does that excite you? If it doesn’t you’re not
capturing what that truly means.
While you were still in prayer…before you
explained yourself, your situation or your feelings……God knew.
Before you drew an elaborate picture of your trial
and laid it out before the Lord, he saw the picture clearly and, in more
detail, than you were even aware of.
He is listening.
He is hearing.
He is answering.
With that incredible understanding in mind, we
have to then ask ourselves…
Why don’t we pray?
Why don’t we pray more?
Why don’t we make it a priority?
Why don’t we make it our life’s desire?
Why don’t we make time to do it?
Why don’t we go to it first before everything
else?
Why don’t we treat it as if it’s truly important?
Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”
Why do we fail to
ask?
This scripture from
Daniel 9 is a reminder to all of us today. That we have a God who is listening.
We have a God who is hearing. We have a God who is answering.
Are we a people who
believe that?
Do we understand
the power of prayer?
