Circumstances

 Circumstance's.

We all have them in our lives. Some give  privilege and prosperity and others  difficulties and strife.

They can break our hearts or build our ego's. Many times we pray for them to change. They can make us feel frightened and  incapable...
Uncertain...Vulnerable.
I don't think it's the circumstances of our life that make us who we are.  It's what we do with those circumstances.
That statement alone is scary because it implies that we must do something.  That we must get through the uncertainty and vulnerability. The key to this is we do that by knowing a distinct truth.....
That we weren't meant to do this alone.

This is where faith comes in.  This is when you surrender to the fact that non of us are meant to navigate through life by ourselves or to figure it all out on our own.
We have a very  loving God who is patiently waiting for us to reach out and grab his hand.
Not to be pulled out but to be walked with.

When our circumstances don't change we sometimes wonder why God wont change them. Why wont he lift us up and out of the difficulties?  Why does he leave us to struggle at times?

Did you ever watch a baby learning to walk?  They are up one second and down the next.  They move a foot then quickly fall to the ground.  Sometimes they even bump their heads along the way in their attempt to keep moving.
Sometimes there are tears...frustrated tears.
What do we do in the process? We guide them and love them, sometimes holding their hand for a moment only to let go and let them move.
We don't lift them up and carry them to their destination during this period of time.
why?
Because we want them to learn to walk and then one day run!
dance
sprint
skip
We know that through the struggle of learning to walk their legs are getting stronger.  We don't change their circumstances, we stand to the side and gently guide them through.

God's not gone.
He hasn't abandoned you.
He's proudly cheering you on, encouraging you to strengthen your legs and keep moving, even when you stumble...even when you fall.

In those times when you're feeling like a frustrated toddler trying to move through life and  situations, remember that God is there gently guiding you through the uncertainty, vulnerability and strife.
He knows that you will one day dance!

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
