Have you ever Googled your symptoms when you weren’t feeling well? We type in a few questions and in a matter of moments we either come to the conclusion that all is well, or….we’re dying.
“I felt so much better after I Googled
my symptoms”, said no one ever.
Even if there is a less worrisome conclusion to be
found, we usually gravitate towards the worst-case scenario that we clicked on.
While we open the door wide for worry to enter, we clammer to try and figure
things out on our own. This causes us to wind up battling with not only our
ailment but with our imaginations that begin to run wild.
It isn’t usually until we’ve exhausted ourselves
with fear and uncertainty that we decide to talk to someone who knows more than
we…or our Google search can answer. We finally make an appointment.
Many times, when we eventually get ourselves to the
doctor, our greatest fear is replaced by a great deal of relief.
The diagnosis on the computer wasn’t ours. We were
trying to fix something that didn’t even belong to us to begin with. We were trying to figure something out that
was beyond our understanding.
We don’t just do this with physical ailments, but
with spiritual ones as well.
When life throws things at us, that we just can’t
figure out, we try to carry that burden alone. We again feel a compulsion to
take on the role of the great healer for ourselves.
The expert and creator of our hearts knows what’s causing the “symptoms” were feeling; but like our physical ailments we try to figure things out on our own.
We come to conclusions, make observations and give ourselves
a prognosis that we’re just not qualified to give.
The one who is the expert of your heart knows what’s
causing those symptoms. He knew the very moment the problem started, and he
holds the answer to its resolution.
“He
heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3
It’s time to make an appointment with the one who knows you better than you know yourself; Our Heavenly Father.
The great thing is, there’s always an opening in his
schedule for you, and the appointment time can be as long as you need.
Why are you struggling alone?
Turn off the TV. Shut off your phone. Step away
from the computer. Find a quiet place and talk to the Great Physician.
He wants to hear your heart.
“Then
they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their
distress. He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their
destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his wondrous works to the children of
man!”

Psalm 107:19-21
