Keep the Light On

The world was a dark place. Gods people had not heard from God in 400 years.

Quiet and darkness

Like a room unable to be crossed because each step was full of uncertainty. Eyes unable to focus or guide because there was nothing distinguishable around them.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes in a pitch black room I wind up closing my eyes as I navigate it. I put my arms out in front of me and hope for the best as I take that first uncertain step.

Gods people were doing the same in this time of darkness. Their arms moving desperately to get their baring’s on something solid. Something that could guide them through the dark.

But there was nothing there….except darkness.

Then Jesus came and turned the light on.

The room…the world was filled with His light.

Illuminated with the warm glow of his Love, Hope and Peace.

Some opened their eyes to see the light.. and some did not.

The people we’re shown the way at last, but only those with eyes and ears open to see….saw this great light and heard His great promise.

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.””-John 8:12

Do you realize you were given the light that leads to life?

Are your eyes open or are you still flailing your arms in the dark?

Open your eyes! The light is on! Jesus Christ, the light of the world has come.

He’s calling to you to follow Him! He’s telling you and me and the world…

That we no longer have to walk in darkness.

We no longer have to fear the darkness either.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it-John 1:5

So, what should Christmas mean to us? It’s a reminder that The Light has come! Christ has come!

But not only that. It’s also a reminder to “Keep The Light on”.

But how?

By proclaiming all that God is, in all that we do, each day of our lives.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”- Matthew 5:14-16

Keep the light of Jesus on beyond this season. Give light to everyone around you. Let’s not only see this as a “season” of giving, but a lifetime of giving the Love, Hope, Joy and Peace of Jesus.

May you have a very blessed Christmas.
