Ask
Have you ever felt like you could be more helpful to God if only you were wealthier? Or more extroverted? Or more resourceful?
Have
you ever disqualified yourself from doing the work of Jesus in the world
because you just did not think you have anything to offer? Maybe you don’t
think you have any gifts or talents. Maybe you have decided somewhere along the
way, that you are “less than”.
Less
than what the world needs..
Less
than what’s considered valuable..
Less
than what others have to offer…
Here’s
something to consider: It would do us a great deal of good to spend less time
trying to be like other people and more time discovering Gods plan for us as
individuals.
Maybe
you don’t have the resources to help the people being helped in the lives of
others around you.
Maybe
you don’t have the gifts that the people you’re focusing on have.
Maybe
you’re focusing on the wrong thing.
Maybe
you’re asking yourself the wrong questions.
Who
are the people God has placed in your life to whom you can show His light?
What
talents and gifts has God given you and how might He use them to draw
others to Himself? Did you hear that part? How might He, God…not
you….use those gifts to draw others to Himself?
“I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” -Philippians 4:13
Our
problem more times than not, is trying to do things in our own strength. God
made you to fit a plan and purpose that was meant for you. He has given you
unique circumstances, specific tools (gifts) and a personal approach to being
His light in the world.
Instead
of asking ourselves how we could possibly make a difference in the world
compared to others we see…
Instead
of wondering how we can ever be a blessing to people around us when we lack the
gifts that others possess…
We
need to simply ask God to show us how.
“This
is what the Lord says—
your
Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I
am the Lord your God,
who
teaches you what is best for you,
who
directs you in the way you should go.”-Isaiah 48:17
Father
how do you want me to be the light in the darkness?
Lord
how can I be your hands and feet in this hurting world?
Jesus show
me how.
“Show
me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”-Psalm 25:4-5
When
you do that with a sincere and surrendered heart God will open your eyes to
things that are right in front of you that you did not even notice.
“Trust in the Lord with all
your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you
do, and he will show you which path to take.”-Proverbs 3:5-6
Just
ask Him to show you.
Just ask.
